Ewing won on Stellar Story, while Kennedy won at Cheltenham on Teahupoo
Irish police are investigating after leading jockeys Sam Ewing and Jack Kennedy were allegedly attacked in an early morning roadside attack.
The incident occurred in Naas, County Kildare at approximately 03:15 GMT on Monday, 18 March.
Both jockeys had enjoyed big winners at the Cheltenham Festival just days earlier.
A Garda (Irish police) spokesman said: “Two men in their 20s were injured during the incident.”
“No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.”
It was reported by the Irish Mirror that the pair were kicked and punched as Ewing walked on South Main Street.
He did not suffer serious injuries but police officials advised him to undergo a medical examination.
Both jockeys emerged winners at the Festival last week for trainer Gordon Elliott, who is based in County Meath.
Kennedy, who hails from County Kerry, traveled from Teahupoo to the Stayers Hurdle.
The 24-year-old captured the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Minella Indo three years ago.
Antrim-born 20-year-old Ewing won the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle on 33-1 outsider Stellar Story, beating The Jukebox Man, owned by former football manager Harry Redknapp.
Both riders have returned to racing but have not commented on the incident.
