Royal Challengers Bangalore legend Virat Kohli returned to his old best against Punjab Kings on Monday, March 25. Playing at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Kohli hit 4 fours in the first over of the match against Sam Curran. This was the first time that Kohli was seen in full swing, struggling in the team’s first match against Chennai Super Kings. The senior batsman was seen hitting some of his trademark shots at the beginning of the innings.

Kohli got lucky that day and was saved early in the innings when Jonny Bairstow dropped his catch on the very second ball of the innings. Virat Kohli bowled the ball in the slip off Sam Curran but Bairstow failed to get an easy chance. From there, Kohli took on Curran and hit three consecutive fours off the next three balls. Kohli displayed some sensational cover drives that left the off side in splits.
Virat Kohli had not played competitive cricket since India’s T20 series against Afghanistan. The batsman had taken personal leave from India’s Test series against England to be with his family. Virat and Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child this time in London in February. The batsman returned to cricket action in the IPL but failed to make an impact in his first game. The batsman scored 21 runs in 20 balls against Chennai Super Kings and was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman.
After his dropped catch on Monday, March 25, Kohli flipped the switch and played some aggressive shots and pushed the Punjab team back. Kohli’s start was crucial for his team while chasing 177 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The batsman helped his team reach 50 runs in the powerplay.
