Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh has finally returned home. The actor, missing since April 22, 2024, returned to his home in Delhi on Friday.
Soon after Singh returned home, Delhi Police officials interrogated him, after which it was revealed that the actor had left home to go on a religious pilgrimage. Police officials say that after Singh was reported “missing”, they visited gurudwaras in several cities such as Amritsar and Ludhiana. However, they later realized that they should return home.
Gurucharan Singh was last seen on April 22, 2024. Even though he was supposed to fly from Delhi to Mumbai, he did not reach the airport in the national capital. Singh’s father filed a missing complaint four days later, saying, “My son Gurcharan Singh, age: 50, left for Mumbai at 8:30 am on April 22. He went to the airport to catch the flight. He neither reached Mumbai nor returned home and his phone is also not available. He is mentally stable and we were searching for him but now he is missing.
While Delhi Police is investigating the case, earlier today, News18 Shosha exclusively learned that a team of police officers visited the sets of TMKOC and interrogated Singh’s former co-stars. “This week Delhi Police visited our set and spoke to actors who were in contact with Gurcharan Singh. Everyone has cooperated well with the police,” a source close to the show’s production told us.
“Also, there were some rumors related to Gurcharan Singh being paid by the production house. But the police found that the actor had been paid much earlier,” said the insider.
Meanwhile, Gurucharan Singh’s father Harjeet Singh also recalled the last day he spent with Gurucharan before he went missing. Harjeet revealed that he was in New Delhi when the actor celebrated his birthday. “There was no celebration as such, but we were at home together, and it felt good. The next day, he had to go to Mumbai,” he told The Times of India.
“What happened is so shocking, we don’t know how to deal with it. We are all very worried and are eagerly waiting for some updates from the police. Gurucharan’s father said, “We are waiting for his return.”
The officer said Singh’s mobile phone was switched off since 9.22 pm on April 22. Based on CCTV footage, his last location was tracked to Dabri in south-west Delhi, where he reached in an e-rickshaw hired from near the IGI airport.
