India’s Lakshya Sen started the badminton men’s singles event of the Paris Olympics with a win; he defeated world number 41 player Kevin Cordon in straight games in Group L. World number 18 player Lakshya faced a tough fight from Guatemala’s Kevin in the second game, but the Indian player managed to win 21-8, 22-20 in 42 minutes. Lakshya started the match brilliantly and took a 5-0 lead by scoring five consecutive points. The Indian player was ahead 11-2 until the break. Even after the break, Lakshya maintained his dominance and took the score to 18-5.
The rhythm of the target got disturbed in between
Lakshya got 12 game points with a cross-court smash at 19-8, and then Kevin hit a shot outside the court to give the Indian player the first game.
Kevin started the second game better and took a 4-1 lead.
Kevin took advantage of Lakshya’s mistakes and went ahead 11-6 at the break. During this, Lakshya hit many shots on and off the net.
Lakshya made a strong comeback
